Hello Neighbor

Hello Neighbor review

Hello Neighbor is a widely known horror stealth title with a very bright antagonist wearing a mustache. Here you will try figuring out his secret. But you should be very careful because your opponent is navigated by a smart artificial intelligence that will learn from your behavior. Be ready for numerous puzzles!

Graphics and Sound, 10/10

The graphics are not bad with the bright interior of the house you are going to explore. But in general, the cartoonish design is simple, resembling a retro style. Sounding adds to the environment creating tension in the air at the right moment.

Controls, 10/10

The controls are simple and you will master them easily, though they are not always smooth and can make you repeat a move to achieve the result.

Gameplay, 10/10

The gameplay is rather complicated though the idea is quite simple. Your target is the house of the neighbor. You should get into it to find a secret locked room. The investigation will take some time as far as the mission occurs to be very difficult. The neighbor is a real mind reader knowing all your thoughts. Whatever you do, he will know about it and set a trap for you. Even when you penetrate the house, you will have to do your best to avoid your opponent, otherwise, you will be killed. There are three acts in the game. The house becomes larger, therefore, there is more space to explore. The gentleman wearing a mustache looks quite ugly, but you cannot say that he is able to commit a crime. But who knows! The developers do not deliver any explanations.

Lasting appeal, 10/10

It can take you about 20 hours to complete the game, but it is true if you manage to complete the task. Indeed, this is not as easy as it seems to be. There are plenty of ways to do it, and you should try all of them again and again to win the AI. Thus, the lasting appeal is strong, but the mechanics are quite repetitive. Also, high complexity may irritate.

Pros:

  • There are a lot of puzzles to solve
  • The endless challenges enhance replayability
  • The design is nice.

Cons:

  • The bugs are possible
  • It lacks a story - there are no reasons for your anxiety.
