Whatsapp Rolls Out Update With Call Links

WhatsApp is getting a long-awaited Call Link feature. The developers are rolling out an update that makes it quick and easy to invite anyone to a conversation. So far, it works across mobile devices and is not compatible with desktop app versions.

Information that the messenger would get the Call Link tool was received last month. It allows users to invite people who are not on their contact list to a call. Moreover, communication can be either one-on-one or in a group chat of up to 32 participants. The generated link remains valid for 90 days.

The rollout is already running, and it will take some time for the update to reach all regions. Wait for your app to update automatically, or do it manually. In the “Calls” tab, there will be a new instrument to generate such links. You can choose the type of call, video, or audio by clicking on the corresponding button. Besides, you will be offered several options for sharing this link. You can choose any available messenger, email service, and other platforms.

While this update is gradually reaching all mobile devices, it will probably not appear on desktops soon. At the moment, if you try to open the link sent to you on a computer, the service will offer you other ways to join the call, which somehow redirect you to a mobile device. You can copy the link to use on your smartphone or scan the QR code. Whether the developers will work to eliminate these restrictions has yet to be discovered.

The Call Links are a great way to arrange an audio or video meeting quickly. In WhatsApp, you cannot join a call if you are not added as a contact. The new feature eliminates this problem and simplifies communication within the messenger. If you happen to test this tool, please share your thoughts in the comments! Is it handy, and how often do you plan to use it?
