Unveiling Command and Control: Six Days in Fallujah Introduces Documentary Missions and Major Updates
- 2024-09-25
An thrilling development is approaching for Six Days in Fallujah, slated for release in November. This update will introduce the inaugural documentary story missions, known as the Command and Control update. Two missions will delve into the beginnings of the Second Battle of Fallujah, which commenced on November 7, 2004, and was marked by some of the most heated encounters of the conflict.
The missions are set to include documentary footage that will play at various points, showcasing interviews with both Iraqi and American individuals present during the hostilities, which resulted in significant casualties, including over 100 military personnel, around 1,000 insurgents, and at least 800 civilians. The content will also address the roots of the Islamic State group alongside the events of the opening day of this pivotal battle.
This development is noteworthy because although Six Days in Fallujah has been accessible through early access on Steam since November 2023, the much-anticipated story missions have only now become available. Prior to this update, gameplay primarily revolved around standalone missions situated in procedurally-generated environments.
Victura, the publisher, emphasizes that Six Days in Fallujah aims to offer a realistic portrayal of the conflict, crafted in collaboration with numerous Iraqi civilians and military personnel along with over 100 U.S. soldiers. However, it has faced criticism around its sensitive historical context since its initial announcement in 2009 and even experienced a temporary cancellation at one point.
The story missions are part of a broader update that also encompasses a new Fireteam AI system, enabling players to command three NPC squadmates, along with over 300 technical improvements, including enhancements to AI behavior. In addition to the story elements, the Command and Control update will also launch a new HLZ procedural mission that can be engaged in either solo or teamwork formats, accommodating a maximum of four other players.
