Square Enix Appears To Be Altering Their Approach Regarding Playstation-Exclusive Titles

Despite Square Enix rolling out an array of titles on PC, as well as the Switch and Xbox platforms, it's been clear that the PlayStation has been favored with the most significant releases, such as Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, which are exclusive to the PlayStation 5.

However, it appears the company is shifting away from this approach and is set to expand its horizon by bringing its games to a wider range of platforms. Square Enix's new direction involves reinforcing engagement with gamers by adopting a proactive multi-platform release strategy that encompasses Nintendo systems, PlayStation, Xbox, and PCs.

Square Enix has faced challenges in meeting its sales goals for its titles in recent times. For instance, Forspoken, which was launched solely on PC and PlayStation 5, and the PlayStation 5-only Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth has not lived up to sales expectations.

To address this, the company aims to increase its reach by supporting a broader spectrum of platforms, thereby creating an ecosystem where more gamers can access and enjoy both their blockbuster and catalog titles.
