Orcs Must Die: Deathtrap Announced for 2025 with Exciting New Features and Four-Player Co-Op

Robot Entertainment is expanding its Orcs Must Die series with a new installment set to debut on PC and Xbox Series consoles in early 2025. The game, titled Orcs Must Die: Deathtrap, is a third-person action experience where players can combat orcs solo or with up to four friends. Using roguelite progression, players can enhance their skills and abilities to slay an increasing number of orcs.

This new iteration will feature adaptive difficulties based on the number of players and will offer six unique playable characters, each with their own playstyles, personalities, traps, and abilities. The wave-based action will be made more challenging with buffs and debuffs, and environmental factors such as weather and time of day will impact gameplay. After each wave, players will have the option to return to a castle hub, where they can improve heroes, weapons, and traps before facing an Orc General boss at the end of each combat encounter.

According to Robot Entertainment's co-founder and CEO Patrick Hudson, the development team has focused on innovating within the thirteen-year-old franchise by incorporating fan feedback. They have maintained the series' classic chaotic action and light-hearted tone while introducing four-player cooperative gameplay, new versatile heroes with unique abilities, expanded level variety, and new rogue-lite progression choices. The aim is to deliver the most exhilarating orc-slaying experience yet.

Orcs Must Die: Deathtrap is scheduled to launch on PC and Xbox Series consoles sometime in early 2025. In conjunction with this announcement, every other game and DLC in the series is currently discounted on Steam until July 31.
