Epic Mickey 3 currently "impossible", Warren Spector says

Warren Spector, the creative mind behind the Epic Mickey series, recently shared his thoughts on LinkedIn about the announcement of Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, a highly anticipated remake of the original game set to release on various platforms. Spector conveyed his exhilaration over the project but clarified that he is not secretly developing the much-speculated third game in the series. Juggling his responsibilities as the chief creative officer at OtherSide Entertainment, he mentioned that his current position prevents him from being involved in creating Epic Mickey 3, despite harboring ideas for the sequel.

Spector had talked about his vision for finishing the Epic Mickey trilogy with a third game that would incorporate more musical elements. However, the series has yet to move beyond its second installment, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Presently, Spector is focused on his role at OtherSide Entertainment, the studio he helped establish. This company has been involved in several ambitious projects, including Underworld Ascendant and System Shock 3, although it encountered difficulties with the latter due to financial instability at its publisher, Starbreeze.

As Spector remains committed to OtherSide Entertainment, he assured fans that the studio is working on exciting new projects, including Argos: Riders of the Storm, and is in the process of hiring for this and another undisclosed project. Despite the cancellation of a Dungeons and Dragons project at the beginning of the year, the future seems promising for Spector and his team. Nonetheless, fans of the Epic Mickey series may have to hold on to their hopes for a third game, as Spector’s current endeavors will keep him occupied for the foreseeable future.
