Age of Empires Mobile coming later this year

A fresh rendition of the iconic strategy series, Age of Empires, is making its way to smartphones globally, later this year. This mobile iteration is the result of a collaborative effort between TiMi Studio Group, known for their success with Call of Duty Mobile and Pokémon Unite, and Xbox Games Studio World's Edge, the minds behind Age of Empires 4. Their goal is to faithfully transpose the intricate gameplay from the original PC series to mobile platforms, ensuring the controls are both simplified and tailored for the new format.

Introduction to the game was made through a developer diary video alongside a captivating new trailer, emphasizing the importance of multiplayer gameplay. This mobile version is set to introduce siege battle experiences unique to this platform, fostering a global community where players can either join forces or compete against one another online.

An interesting feature will allow gamers to form alliances with various historical figures, enriching the strategic depth of both player-vs-player (PvP) and player-vs-environment (PvE) modes. Moreover, for gamers who prefer a solitary journey, the game will offer ample opportunity to construct and evolve their own empires, alongside dungeon explorations. Adhering to the essence of the classic series, the mobile game will keep core elements like resource management, base construction, and the franchise’s signature audio effects intact.

Earnest Yuen from World's Edge mentioned his excitement about introducing the Age of Empires experience to a wider audience through the mobile platform. The partnership with TiMi Studio is aimed at leveraging their collective expertise in strategy gaming and mobile game development to create an inviting new avenue for players worldwide to engage with the Age of Empires universe.

TiMi Studio, a Tencent subsidiary celebrated for its excellence in mobile gaming, is entrusted with ensuring that this venture mirrors the engaging and immersive gameplay that Age of Empires fans have come to cherish. Brayden Fan, a general manager at TiMi, shared his enthusiasm, recounting how the game was a crucial part of many people's gaming upbringing. He reassured that the mobile version would offer a novel yet nostalgically thrilling experience, encouraging players globally to erect vast empires, form strategic alliances, and participate in epic battles to assert their dominance.
